Mahama Plots Against Free SHS

Credible information available to the Daily Statesman indicates that former President John Dramani Mahama is up to diabolical plans, seeking to sabotage a successful implementation of New Patriotic Party's Free SHS policy, which is expected to begin in September this year.

This paper is reliably informed that Mr. Mahama's intentions is informed by his decision to lead the opposition National Democratic Congress in the 2020 presidential election, after he miserably lost to President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo in the 2016 polls.

President Nana Akufo-Addo, during the 60th Anniversary celebration of Okuapeman School in the Eastern Region in February, assured that his government would fully implement the free Senior High School policy from September 2017, and has since reiterated his government's determination to see its full implementations on several platforms.

Former President Mahama, who has been assured of massive support among NDC faithful, should he try to contest the party's flagbearership, believes his only chance of becoming a president again is by bastardizing the free SHS policy, which has been hailed by majority of Ghanaians.

He is said to have therefore, invited some south African nationals into the country who are moving round gathering key information, geared towards shooting down the Free Education policy.

As part of the plot, the ex-president is also said to have contracted the services of some officials of the Bureau of National Investigations and the Ghana Education Service, whoa re loyal to the NDC, to help sabotage the implementation of the policy.

These GES staffs, according credible reports, have been specifically tasked to frustrate the system so that the policy will not see the light of day.

Some coordinating directors in some assemblies, who are believed to be in bed with the opposition NDC, have also been allegedly tasked by the ex-president to thwart president Nana Akufo-Addo's effort at providing free SHS education to students who qualify.

It is alleged that Mr. Mahaam's team has had serious of meetings with some regional and district directors of education, as well as heads of some educational institutions, in the three northern regions in respect of this agenda.

Aside the planned use of some officials of the GES to execute this plot, the former President is also said to be courting the support of some owners and heads of private senior high schools in the country for his diabolic agenda.

These private SHS owners are being brainwashed by the ex-president's team to kick against the implementation of the policy on grounds that it will lead to the collapse of the private schools.
