“I Dedicate WAFA Win For Hearts Of Oak Supporters” – Fatau

Fatau Mohammed, the right back of Accra Hearts of Oak, has dedicated his side’s 2-1 victory over West African Football Academy (WAFA) to the supporters of the club, who died during the May 9 disaster at the Accra Sports Stadium, 16 years ago.

Speaking to the press after the match, Mohammed, the adjudged man of the match, said a victory over WAFA was the best way to console their supporters after sixteen years of an unprecedented disaster at their home grounds.

“I want to dedicate our victory over WAFA to our supporters, they should be happy and forget about the May 9 disaster. They should know that accident is part of life and it can happen to every individual.

“It was a sad day for world football and we knew that a defeat against WAFA could be bad for them. We had to cool them down with a sweet victory over WAFA which we did, and I know they are happy”. He said.
