Investment Delegation Expected In Ghana In 2010

A Finnish trade and investment delegation is expected in Ghana next March 2010 for discussion on bilateral and economic co-operation to enhance partnership between the two countries. Ms Anneli Vuorinen, Finnish Ambassador to Ghana, said Finland noted for high level of literacy and education, was ready to share her experience with Ghana. She commended Ghana for her democratic and economic development as well as active participation in global peacekeeping. Ms Vuorinen announced these when presenting letters of credence to President John Evans Atta Mills at the Jubilee House, in Accra. This is the first official assignment by President Mills at the House since assuming office on January 7, 2009. Two other ambassadors, Mr Luca Fratini from Italy and Mr Luis Alberto Stahi, from Mexico, presented their letters of credence to President Mills. President Mills reiterated government�s commitment and determination to use Ghana�s resources to build a prosperous and better Ghana. He stressed the need for Ghana and Finland to build on their warm relationship. President Mills said Ghana was geared for an accelerated development and ready to partner other nations to build a better economy. He said there were many investment opportunities in Ghana and government was diversifying the economy apart from cocoa production. President Mills said infrastructure development was necessary for the development of the economy and urged Finland to team up with Ghana for economic co-operation for their mutual benefit. �Finland has a lot to offer. You are more visible in East Africa; we want you to come closer because we have mutually beneficial ties,� President Mills said. On Italy-Ghana relationship, President Mills reiterated government�s vision of building a �Better Ghana� through investing in people, job creation, and building a strong economy, adding �the doors of Ghana are open for investment�. President Mills observed that Italy was a leader in the construction industry and asked the Italian ambassador to bring their experience and expertise to bear on the construction industry in Ghana. �Infrastructure forms the basis of a strong and resilient economy, �he said. However, President Mills urged investors to abide by the laws on investment in Ghana. President Mills said Ghana valued her relationship with Mexico, and could complement each other�s effort to improve on the living standards of their peoples. �In Mexico, we have found a partner,� President Mills declared. Mr Stahi said the two countries could use their good relationship to tap into opportunities for their mutual benefits. He said Ghana was showing to the world that, she was a country of opportunities and called for greater co-operation between them in infrastructure, tourism and telecommunications.
