NGO Donate To Mfantseman Health Directorate

Health facilities in the Mfantseman municipality of the Central Region have received medical equipment and supplies worth more than $40,000 from the Fantis Association of Connecticut in the USA.

The beneficiary health facilities are the Ekumpoano community health planning and services compound (CHPS) Mankessim Community Health Centre, Anomabo Health Centre, Dominase Health centre and the Salvation Army health centre Ajumako.

These items incluced first respond emergency collars, standing weight scales, IV poles, examination room beds and stools, bio-hazard waste containers, drip stands, boxes of examination gloves, wheel chairs etc.

This is to help improve the primary healthcare delivery in the communities within the Mfantseman Municipality.

Spokesperson for the Association, Mr John Koomson said the donation was made possible following a need assessment with authorities of the Mfantseman Health Directorate and some leaders from communities.

He said, the donation was in fulfillment of the Association’s mission of reaching out to needy hospitals in the Central Region to promote quality health care.

Mr Koomson added that, "The aim of the association was to ensure that all hospitals and health facilities in the Region would have enough equipment to provide quality primary health care to the people",.

According to him, the donation would help step up quality health care delivery at the beneficiary hospitals.

Mr. Koomson appeal to Ghanaians abroad for their quota in assisting hospitals in Ghana to reduce the challenges confronting the hospitals.

Mrs Graham-Hayfron expressed gratitude to the Association for the gesture and called for stronger partnership in future for more support.

She mentioned that, the equipment would be of immense help to the beneficiary facilities in delivering quality health care to the people because majority lacked those facilities.

She called for a proper maintainance for the equipment in the municipality.

The Mfantseman Municipal Health Director Mrs. Georgina Yvonne Graham-Hayfron as well as the Member of Parliament for Mfantseman Ekow Kwansah Hayford and Nana Kyia III, Adontenhen of Ekumfi Traditional Area, received the equipment on behalf of the directorate.
