A wreath-laying ceremony marked the Remembrance Day in Kumasi in honour of soldiers killed during the World War One and Two as well as peacekeeping missions. Four wreaths were laid at the Cenotaph by the Ashanti Regional Minister, Mr Kofi Opoku Manu, Lieutenant-Colonel George Affram of the Four Battalion of Infantry (4BN), Baffour Owusu Asare Amankwatia V, Bantamahene and ex-Staff Sergeant Samuel Ofori, the Regional Chairman of the Veterans Association of Ghana (VAG) amidst playing of dirges by the "Amamereso Cultural Troupe" from the Centre of National Culture. On parade were contingents from the Ghana Armed Forces, Police and other security agencies and ex-servicemen. A large crowd of people including school children gathered at the square to join in the observance of the day. Reverend Father Major F.D.K Agbley and four Chaplains, who officiated at the service, said Christian and Muslim prayers for the dead. There was also libation and a minute's silence. As the clock struck 1100 hours, the siren wailed and ex-Corporal Alex Boakye- Yiadom read the "Binyon Verses." The last post was then sounded followed by the reveille.
