Remembrance Day marked in Ho

Eight officers and 165 men and women drawn from six security services were on parade to mark the 64th Remembrance Day in Ho on Wednesday. The security services were from the 66 Artillery Regiment, Police, Fire Service, Immigration Service, Customs Excise and Preventive Service and the Prisons Service. Also on the parade, under the command of Captain Eric Amankwaah, were some veterans. Major Moses Kwasi Adraku (Retired), the Volta Region Chairman of the Veterans Association of Ghana, read the Binyon Verse and also laid a wreath on behalf of veterans. Mr Joseph Amenowode, the Volta Regional Minister, laid a wreath on behalf of the President and people of the country. Lieutenant-Colonel Seidu Abass, Commanding Officer of the 66 Artillery Regiment, laid on behalf of the Ghana Armed Forces and other security services while Togbe Kwaku Ayim IV, Paramount Chief of the Ziavi Traditional Area, laid one on behalf of the chiefs in the region. Prayers were said for the nation, hymns sang, and two minutes' silence in remembrance of veterans of World War I and II.
