The Ashanti Regional Police Command has arrested four persons, suspected to be involved in series of robberies in parts of the Kumasi metropolis.
They are Patrick Ndego, who claims to be a building contractor, Emmanuel Osei Abdulai, also known as Tough Shatta, Ahmed Dauda and Hamza Isaa, also known as Okrati (cat head).
Others, Yaw, Eric and Edward are on the run, and being sought for by the police.
Deputy Ashanti Regional Police Commander, Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Yaw Ampofo-Duku, confirmed the story at a media briefing in Kumasi on Friday.
He said that Ndego was arrested for allegedly doping the driver of a Toyota Corolla taxi, with registration number AS 680-17, and robbing him of the vehicle.
ACP Ampofo-Duku said Ndego allegedly hired the taxi to Ahodwo, on March 10, this year, and the driver felt dizzy and woke up sleeping on a bench at Ahodwo the following morning.
Deputy Ashanti Regional Police Commander said the complainant, Samuel Nsiah of Krofrom in Kumasi, spotted the vehicle, with a new number, GW 9025-17, and alerted the police.
He said when the police arrested the driver of the vehicle registration number GW 9025-17, he said he bought it from Ndego.
ACP Ampofo-Duku said Ndego, who was in Accra, was contacted and he went to Kumasi in a Toyota Matrix car, which was identified by one Emmanuel Osei Tutu as his.
The police said Ndego was arrested and is helping with investigations.
According to ACP Ampofo-Duku, Dauda and Abdulai were arrested for allegedly robbing their victims of mobile handsets and cash of GH¢108.00 on May 5, this year, at Kwadaso, in Kumasi.
However, Hamza told the police that he had been wrongly accused by his victim of robbing him of GH¢ 3,000.00.
Hamza told journalists in the presence of the police that: “It is not true that I collected GH¢ 3,000.00, it was GH¢15.00 and I gave him back his pen drive and one of his mobile handsets that I collected because, I felt pity for him when he told me he was a stranger.”
In another development, the Manhyia Divisional Police Commander, Chief Superintendent Isaac Kwaku Buah, said Hamza, armed with a locally manufactured pistol attacked Baba Ali at Suame on May 11,this year, and robbed him of two of mobile handsets, a motor bike and GH¢3,000.00.
Chief Sup. Buah said the following day, the victim spotted the motor bike at Suame roundabout, and raised an alarm and neighbours arrested Hamza.
He said Hamza told the police he was prepared to lead them to the ‘dungeon of criminals’ in the metropolis.
