We’re Happy With How A-G Is Handling JB Danquah-Adu’s Case - Family Spokesperson

Family spokesperson for the late and former Member of Parliament for Abuakwa North, Hon. JB Danquah-Adu, has expressed the joy of the family for the re-arrest of the two men linked to the murder of the former lawmaker.

According to Kwaku Solomon, the family were taken aback when they heard that the court had discharged the two murder suspects, especially when one of the suspects, Daniel Asiedu in his earlier confession had admitted to killing JB Danquah-Adu in his attempt to rob him [Danquah-Adu].

The police on Tuesday afternoon re-arrested the two men linked to the murder of a former Member of Parliament (MP) for Abuakwa-North, Mr J.B. Danquah-Adu for further investigations. This was a few hours after they had been discharged by the Accra High Court.

The Attorney General (AG) filed a nolle prosequi in the case of the two, which had reached the stage where a jury was to be constituted for the trial of Daniel Asiedu and Vincent Bosso.

Speaking on Okay FM’s 'Ade Akye Abia' Morning Show, Kwaku Solomon averred that until the re-arrest of the two suspects, the family felt the confession of Daniel Asiedu was enough to charge him in court.

“We thank God that immediately after their release by the court, the police re-arrested them and that our finding revealed that the state attorney wants to charge them with new evidence which is why they discontinued with the old charges,” he averred.

“We are happy that the court said that they have been discharged and not acquitted and if they have been acquitted and discharged, we would have still been in dismay. We thank God the Attorney-General is preparing a fresh case to convict them and we are tempted to believe that the petition we sent to the President to open investigation to cover his wife, the driver and the security man is what is being done,” he asserted.

He insisted that fresh investigation by the police into JB Danquah-Adu's murder case will bring the truth out; thus, the police are already aware of the circumstances surrounding his death and the police found those inconsistencies in his room.

He therefore pleaded with the family members and sympathizers of JB Danquah-Adu to exercise patience as the Attorney-General starts fresh investigation; also he appealed to the Ms. Gloria Akuffo to expedite the process to prosecute the suspects immediately.
