Black Stars Open Camp With 16 Players For Triple-header

The Black Stars trained for the first time on Tuesday as part of preparations for games against Ethiopia, Mexico and the USA.

Sixteen players were present at the Accra Sports Stadium as Ghana began non-residential preparations on Tuesday for the upcoming triple-header of games.

The session was supervised by head coach Kwesi Appiah, who met the team for the first time since his reappointment as trainer of the Black Stars earlier this month.

In the absence of captain Asamoah Gyan, deputy skipper Andre Ayew led the side, which featured a few big names like Jordan Ayew, Daniel Amartey, Afriyie Acquah, Majeed Waris and Frank Acheampong.

All seven locally-based players invited were also present.

Ghana play Ethiopia in the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers in Kumasi on June 11, before lining up against Mexico at Houston's NRG Stadium in Texas, USA, in an international friendly on June 28.

The four-time African champions then face the USA at the Pratt & Whitney Stadium in East Hartford, Connecticut.
