Between 75 and 78 Ghanaians have arrived at the Kotoka International Airport from the United States of America as the second batch of deportees following Donald Trump’s crackdown on illegal migrants.

Most of the deportees were handcuffed as they disembarked from the chartered flight, Accra-based Onua FM reported.

Officers of the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO), the Ghana Immigration Service and the Ghana Police Service were on stand-by to assist the deportees go through screening.

According to the station, out of the deported aboard the flight bearing an American flag, only three had been successfully screened and cleared to leave after an hour since arrival.

Most of them had no belongings and are finding it difficult to reach their relatives in Ghana.

The three said their colleagues are finding it difficult with immigration officers as some have no records, and what is more, cannot bear the embarrassment.

The deportation comes on the back of US President Trump’s resolve to rid his country of illegal migrants including Ghanaians.

About 7, 000 Ghanaians in the US are said to be affected by the decree.

Last month, the US Ambassador to Ghana, Robert P. Jackson, disclosed that 100 have already arrived in Ghana with more to follow.
