Mensah Set to Join Udinese

Ghana youth defender Jonathan Mensah has reached a deal to join Italian Serie A side Udinese when the transfer window opens in January. Mensah, who plays for South African club Free State Stars, has already reached a three-year deal with the top-flight. But the deal will be ratified this week if he passes his medical test which is scheduled for Wednesday. The defender was expected to join French club Bordeaux but Udinese were reported to have tabled a bigger offer which prompted Free States Stars to approve the deal.“Everything has been finalised by my agency, Prosport International,” Mensah said. “I will still be with Stars for the next three days before going for my medical at Udinese. “It’s always been my dream to play in Europe and I am very happy that finally I am close in achieving it. "I would like to thank Mike Mokoena for agreeing to let me go, despite me still having two years left on my contract.” Mensah impressed at the U20 World Cup in Egypt and helped the Black Satellites to win the title in Egypt last month. His performance attracted interest from top clubs in Europe which resulted in the deal with Udinese.
