BA Police Probe Stolen Vehicles

THE POLICE in the Brong Ahafo Region are yet to finish with investigations into the allege diversion of government’s earthmoving machinery meant for Plant Pool in the Brong Ahafo Region  by  the Brong Ahafo  Regional Organizer  of the NDC,  Maha Seidu.

The deal was exposed by the New Patriotic Party Regional Youth Organizer, Kwame Baffoe aka Abronye DC.

Out of 15 earthmoving machinery dispatched to the region, 12 had since been retrieved and are now parked at the Brong Ahafo Regional Coordinating Council premises while two more are yet to be retrieved from Offinso North District Assembly in the Ashanti Region and another one from Goaso in the Brong Ahafo Region.

The Brong Ahafo Regional Crime officer, Superintendent Nana Kwaku Duah revealed this to DAILY GUIDE, when the paper wanted to find out the extent of investigation into the scandal.

The heavy duty vehicles comprise four tipper trucks, four graders and four high loaders. Superintendent Nana Kwaku Duah indicated that three more graders are yet to be retrieved.

He said though investigations are yet to be concluded, preliminary findings showed that the reasons assigned for originally parking the machines at a private timber contractor’s compound was false.

Asked whether it was true that the machines were under the management of one person (Maha) and so was pocketing proceeds from hiring them, Superintendent Nana Kwaku Duah said that was yet to be established since the police had requested answers from the Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development on how the equipment were entrusted to him without the knowledge of the RCC.

He however said, the regional minister, Kwaku Asoma-Cheremey had been briefed on findings so far, promising that nothing will be left uncovered.

It must be recalled that the former Chairman Of Government Assets Retrieving Committee who doubles as the Regional Youth Organizer of the NPP in Brong Ahafo, Kwame Baffoe alias Abronye DC led a taskforce with the assistance of the Police and BNI in the region to retrieve the machines from the compound of a timber contractor, Oti Yeboah who claimed they were parked there by the NDC regional organizer.
