NADMO Unable To Attend To Over 300 Flood Displaced Victims In B/A

Over three hundred residents of Nwomoasi and Bolga Nkwanta in the Atebubu/Amantin district of the Brong Ahafo Region are stranded as the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO) struggle to get them relief items after they were hit by floods.

Malik Musah, the District Coordinator of NADMO at Atebubu had earlier told journalists their outfit had "not even cups for the victims."

More than 100 houses were affected by the rains and flood which destroyed many farms in the communities, according to residents.

The residents, who were displaced in the two separate floods last Wednesday are stranded in the two Communities as majority of them jostle for sleeping spaces in classrooms.

According to Shaibu Razak, the Assembly member of Nwomoasi, because NADMO has not brought relief materials to them, some of the affected persons sleep at the corridors of members of the community who were not affected by the flood.

He, therefore, appealed to government to expedite negotiations to get them tents and other materials for the people.

However, speaking to Peacefmonline.com on Monday, the Brong Ahafo Regional deputy director of NADMO, Mr Obeng Baah, hinted that their outfit has not yet received relief items from their national headquarters.

"We have written to our Superiors for help but we are yet to hear from them."
