Lawyer Xavier Sosu’s Fate To Be Decided On July 26

Appeal Court Judge, Justice Henry Kwofie has scheduled to give his final ruling on Human Rights Lawyer, Francis Xavier Sosu’s application for stay of execution of his three-year ban handed him by the General legal Council on July 26.

Lawyer Sosu has been banned from practicing by the General Legal Council for three years for over estimation of legal feed in a case involving one Francis Agyare when he represented him.

Lawyer for the General Legal Council in court argued that Lawyer Sosu did not follow due process in the call for stay of execution and therefore his application needs to be quashed in order for him to follow the due process.

Lawyer Samuel Cudjoe for the applicant had argued that the GLC had no registry and therefore filed their notice of appeal at the high court.

While admitting that the process was wrongly filed, he contended that the GLC is not a court hence the decision to file the appeal at the high court. Though he admitted that the records of appeal have not been compiled at the registry at the Court of appeal, he asked the court to exercise its jurisdiction to grant their application.

The court scheduled July 26 to rule on the case after the two lawyers made their oral submissions.
