Aziz Ansah Ready For the Test Today

Former Kumasi Asante Kotoko defender Aziz Ansah has indicated his preparedness to prove he has what it takes to fill the vacuum created at the left back of the Black Stars. The Nigerian based Ghanaian defender who missed the opportunity of lifting this seasons CAF champions league with Heartland FC after the Nigerians lost on an away goal rule to TP Mazembe of DR Congo is enthralled by the Black Stars call up as he had expected it long ago. Aziz was dropped from the squad that faced Mali last Sunday in the ultimate world cup cum African Cup of Nations qualifier played in Kumasi. Coach Milovan Rajevac prior to the exclusion of Aziz from the Kumasi game expressed satisfaction with the performance of the defender and assured him of an invitation on a later date and thus his inclusion in todays friendly game against Nations Cup 2010 hosts Angola. In an interview with peace fm, Aziz was very buoyant he will live up to the task when the coach gives him the opportunity to play. There is no pressure on me and I will grab the opportunity with double hands should I get the chance to play, he said. It looks more certain that Coach Milovan Rajevac would try placing Aziz at the problematic left full back position where the Stars have often been exposed in recent times. Again it will be the first time in about three years since Aziz got the privilege to represent his country and playing at the left back does not look an uphill task for the player who started as a right back with Starlets in 1997 as well as his days with Kotoko but got converted into a left back at Heartland FC of Nigeria. He played that role exceptionally throughout their campaign in the champions league the season gone by. Meanwhile the Black Stars friendly match against Angola is set to kicks off at 2:30 pm (14:30 GMT) this afternoon. The Stars will be without regular players Stephen Appiah, Michael Essien Sulley Muntari, Asamoah Gyan and Samuel Inkoom for obvious reasons of club commitments.
