Killer President Remanded

Ernest Kwame Awuah, aka President, who gruesomely beheaded a 7-year-old boy at Abesim in the Brong Ahafo Region, has been remanded by a Sunyani District Magistrate Court to one month prison custody. He is to re-appear on December 17. Kwame Awuah, who is believed to be mentally ill, was seen displaying the mutilated body of his nephew, Charles Sei, after the bizarre incident on Saturday morning. Prosecuting, Chief Inspector Alex Ofosu said the case is under still under investigation. He pleaded with the court to give the police ample time to fish out all the necessary information related to the case. The police said the accused person, who stayed in the same house with deceased, is a farmer who cultivates a piece of land about 150 meters away from their home at Abesim. Chief Inspector Ofosu said at around 9am on Saturday, while the accused person was working on the said farm, the deceased, together with two of his playmates, approached and started harassing him. According to the prosecutor, an eyewitness indicated that the deceased poured away the maize the accused person was sowing and fetched sand into the bowl. The prosecutor explained that Kwame Awuah then became furious and chased the deceased and his two friends on the farm. During the chase, the seven-year-old boy fell to the ground. The accused pounced on the little boy and butchered him to death by cutting his throat. Police said the two other boys who escaped later informed their parents of the incident. Their parents, with the assistance of residents, arrested the accused person and handed him over to the Sunyani police.
