Be abreast of Government policies

Staff of Information Service Department (ISD) have been urged to be abreast of government policies in order educate the public accurately on such issues. He said majority of people could not avail themselves of opportunity created by certain government programmes and policies because of lack of knowledge. The Upper East Regional Director of ISD, Mr. Nelson Mba Ayamga was addressing key staff members of the nine districts in the Region. The meeting was aimed at strategizing on how to educate the people on Government policies including the Capitation Grant, National Youth Employment, the Ghana School Feeding Programme, Peace, Unity and National Cohesion. He said the people would be empowered to enjoy their rights if government policies were well explained at the community level. He entreated the Officers to take the campaign seriously by going to the remotest areas to propagate the message. He asked the officers to listen attentively to the reactions of the public so that they would package comprehensive feedback for Government to take the necessary actions. He advised them that as ISD Officers, they should never politicise issues of national interest since that could undermine their duties. He also appealed to all Municipal and District Assemblies in the Region to support the ISDs in the discharge of their duties effectively. He noted that they would benefit a lot from the ISD in their respective areas if they were given the necessary support that would help them propagate their programmes and policies very well.
