Polarization Is Our Bane...Ghana Can Pick A Cue From The Chinese - Ambassador

Ghana’s Ambassador to China, His Excellency Edward Boateng, has asserted that China’s astonishing transformation in economic status within the last four (4) decades can provide lessons for African nations, most especially Ghana.

According to him, in as much as China’s infrastructural and economic transformation is inspiring, it also teaches us that a nation that has "discipline" as its hallmark and has the right mindset, can overcome any challenge and achieve greatness.

Within the last 40years, the Chinese have been able to develop a system that has rapidly transformed their country...we (in Ghana) can take a cue from them. In the four or five provinces that i’ve visited so far, the developmental transformation are quite impressive...What i also realized is that they are a disciplined society. Polarization is our bane. Our politics is polarized on more issues than ever before. We (in Ghana) need to be more action-oriented and limit the talk,” Mr Boateng said in interview with a team of Ghanaian journalists when they paid a courtesy call on him to familiarize themselves with operations at the Embassy.

The Ghanaian team, who are part of a group of 66 journalists drawn from 25 selected countries worldwide, are participating in this year’s “Training Course for Radio Broadcasting Techniques for Developing Countries.” The month-long training programme is being organized by the China Radio & TV Co. for International Techno-Economic Cooperation (CRTV).

The newly appointed diplomat, who assumed office a little over a month ago, also touched on the Vice-President, Dr Mahamadu Bawumia’s recent landmark visit to China, where he announced that the Chinese government has committed $15billion dollars of investment to Ghana; secured through a new financing model designed by the present Economic Management Team (EMT).

When Dr Bawumia visited China a couple of months back, the Chinese government made lots of financial commitment to Ghana. We are following up on all such pledges. Their (Chinese) expertise will surely be needed in the execution of the 1-District 1-Factory project that the NPP administration under President Akufo-Addo promised to undertake,” he indicated.
