Black Stars Move One Place up in Rankings

Ghana managed to secure a marginal rise on the latest FIFA/Coca-Cola World ranking table. The Black Stars upped their rankings one step better to 37th from last month's 38th position. Ghana remain Africa's sixth best side behind Cameroon, Ivory Coast, Nigeria, Algeria and Egypt in that order. Despite losing 7 points, Ghana with 739 points seemed to have gained a rather good placing. Fifa today released the November ranking table which showed changes especially at the top as Spain dethrone Brazil still sitting at the top followed by Netherlands in third. A total of 104 'A' international matches have been played since the October edition of the ranking, taking the number of matches evaluated in the ranking this year to 805. In all, 22 matches, including 12 play-off matches, were held to bring down the curtain on the preliminary competition for the 2010 FIFA World Cup and 13 qualifiers for the next AFC Asian Cup.
