GFA Boss: Kojo Bonsus Words Are Bogus

The President of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), Mr. Kwesi Nyantakyi has described comments by a former football administrator, Mr. Kojo Bonsu as kids stuff when it comes to matters concerning football administration. Reacting to a call by Mr. Kojo Bonsu on government to immediately put in place a Public Interest Committee (PIC) to oversee the activities of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) and help check indiscipline and corruption in football administration, Mr. Nyantakyi described Mr Bonsus call as Bogus and Unmeritorious. I will pardon him because he is not a member of the GFA, though he has some interest in football administration it's been such a long time since he was actively involved in that sporting discipline, he stated in an interview on Peace Fms Kokrokoo. The GFA President told Kwami Sefa Kayi that, the GFA is an institutional set-up which ensures transparency, good governance and accountability. We have the congress which is the highest decision making body and also the legislative body of the GFA, as such all accounts are handed over to themit is scrutinized before approval. The accounts are sent to the Ministry of Sports which is then forwarded to Parliament for approval, what kind of checks does he want again? he asked. The GFA President who is also a banker and lawyer, referred to the instance where even in the constitution there was the Commission for Human Rights and Administration Justice (CHRAJ), National Media Commission (NMC) which were all not answerable but solely to the constitution, as such requesting them to send all their activities and programmes to parliament for approval. No one puts pressure on them when working because the institutional set up makes sure that there are checks and balances, he added.
