NCA Ready For 4G Spectrum Buyers

The National Communications Authority (NCA) has disclosed that it is opened for negotiations with prospective buyers of the second 4G spectrum license.

The Chief Executive Officer of the NCA, Joe Anokye, explained that the authority will abide by best practices in the sale of the license.

Telecommunication companies have complained that the high cost of the spectrum has deterred most of them from purchasing it after MTN acquired the first at a cost of $67.5 million.

Speaking in an interview, Mr Anokye said the NCA will make the right decision if any company approaches it.

Meanwhile, the NCA has commenced an exercise to increase the update of 3G services in remote communities. Mr Anokye noted that the move will among others, drive competition in the telecom industry.
