Man Kills Girlfriend At Nkroful

Police personnel at Nkroful in the Ellembelle District of the Western Region are on the heels of a young man who allegedly murdered his girlfriend on Sunday, September 24, 2017.

The suspect, Isaac Dargaty, believed to be in his early 30s, is alleged to have also murdered a five-year-old daughter of the girlfriend.

He was said to have had some disagreements with the girlfriend and in the process, strangled her to death and later killed the little girl.

Police in the area confirmed the incident but revealed that Isaac Dargaty is currently on the run and that he is being sought after to assist in ongoing investigation.

The bodies of the victims had since been deposited at the Axim Government Hospital pending autopsy.

ASP Olivia Ewurabena Adiku, Western Regional Police Public Relations Officer, confirmed the story to DAILY GUIDEin an interview.

She disclosed that on Monday, September 25, 2017, at about 1:30 pm, a Unit Committee member of Nzema-Akropong called Charles Essuman, reported the case at the Nkroful police station that on Sunday, September 24, 2017, the girlfriend, Grace Donkor – a seamstress apprentice aged 22 and resident of Nzema-Akropong – was invited by Isaac Dagarty also called Wobete Kraw – a cocoa farmer at a cottage near the town – to assist him on his farm.

Grace Donkor visited the boyfriend with her daughter but never returned.

Later when family members visited the residence of Isaac Dargaty to look for Grace, it was revealed that he had absconded, and neither the girlfriend nor her daughter was around, raising suspicion.

A report was therefore made to the Unit Committee members at Akropong.

A search party found the corpses of the woman and the toddler – with marks of apparent violence – buried in a pit latrine, near Isaac Dagarty’s  residence.

A bloodstained club found at the scene is being kept at the police station.
