The Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA) has vowed to sustain its decongestion exercise launched to clear the streets and pavements of hawkers.
It has, therefore, warned traders and commercial drivers, who would want to take advantage of the Christmas festivities to test the assembly's resolve to rethink their action.
A statement signed by Clement Kegeri of the Public Relations Office said the KMA was not prepared to relax the strict enforcement of its by-laws.
It also cautioned the public to be wary of the activities of criminals hiding behind the decongestion exercise to extort money from unsuspecting traders.
The statement said such people should be reported to the appropriate authorities for the law to deal with them.
It said already one of such miscreants, Eric Kwame, has been caught and handed over to the police for legal prosecution.
