Awurama Badu's Son Calls For State Burial For His Mother

The son of the recently deceased legendary highlife singer, Awurama Badu, has said his family will be delighted if his mother is honored with a state burial.

According to Caesar Ohene Karikari, his mother’s contributions to the entertainment industry are worthy of such a ceremony.

Mr. Ohene Karikari who agreed with entertainment pundits who suggest that icons such as his mother deserve such recognition by the state, said he will not demand such a gesture from the government but will welcome the honor if it is offered.

In a report by Blogger Zionfelix.com, the son of the highlife legend announced that one week observation of his mother’s passing will be celebrated on Friday, November 3 at in Effiduase Banko in the Ashanti Region.

Awurama Badu is said to have been sick for some time now and passed away at the age of 72.

Apart from ‘Medofo Adaada Me’, the musician is also known for popular songs such as ‘Komkom’, ‘Emelia’ and ‘Obaatan Refre Ne Mma’.

Awurama Badu was recently recognised by a non-profit organization, Values for life (VFL), for her immense contribution to the growth of music in Ghana.

Her last public appearance was at 2013 edition of Citi FM‘s night of Music of Ghanaian Origin (MOGO), held at the National Theatre.
