Court Remands Twin Brothers

A Tarkwa Circuit court has remanded into prison custody Raphael Amotoe and Ransford Amotoe for allegedly stealing items valued 2,750 Ghana cedis, causing unlawful damage and unlawful entry.

     The twin brothers described as notorious, are both unemployed and aged 23 years, had previously appeared before the same court for committing a similar offenses.

     They pleaded not guilty to the charges and will re-appear before the court on Wednesday December 6, 2017.

     Police Chief Inspector Faustina Celestina Anaman, told the court presided over by Mr. Justice Emmanuel Bart-Plange Brew, that the complainant, Godwin Osei Bonus lives with his wife, a nursing mother at Senyakrom New-Site in Tarkwa, whilst the accused persons reside at Tamso.

       She said a month ago, the complainant's wife left her husband alone in their matrimonial home to live with her elder sister at Jerusalem in Tarkwa.

       According to the prosecutor, on November 8, the complainant after he had closed from work decided to spend the night with the wife at Jerusalem.

       Inspector Amanan said in the early hours of November 9, the complainant's wife returned to the matrimonial home to pick some items she needed and detected that the main door leading to their rooms had been damaged and the perpetrators had stolen their Samsung "42" inch flat screen television, decoder, Tecno Phantom 6 mobile phone and one micro-soft phone all valued 2,750 Ghana cedis. 

      The prosecution said, on November 13 a group of young men led by Kofi Constant, a witness in the case had a tip-off that the accused were offering for sale the stolen television to one Benjamin Osei in Tarkwa. 

      She said they arrested them with the exhibit and handed them over to the police.

      Inspector Anaman said Raphael and Ransford denied the offence and rather alleged that their friends Abby and Doctor gave the television to them.

       She said the accused persons, however failed to assist the police to arrest those they claimed gave them the television.
