Gomoa West Assembly support traditional Council

The Gomoa West District Assembly has donated roofing sheets worth GH7,000 to the Gomoa Akyempim Traditional Council for the rehabilitation of the council's offices at Gomoa Assin. The donation was in response to an appeal by the chiefs of the area after a rainstorm ripped-off the roof last year. Mr Peter Antwi Boasiako, District Coordinating Director, who presented the items said the Assembly would assist the chiefs in their development programmes to raise the standard of living of the people. Mr Boasiako said the Assemblies may not be able to work effectively without the support of the chiefs, and called for a closer collaboration between the two local governance institutions. Obrifo Ahunaku Ahor Ankobea II, Omanhen of the area, who received the item and, called for a closer collaboration between the Traditional Council and the leadership of the Assembly for sustained development. He said chiefs were the axis on which development revolved, therefore any Assembly which sidelined them in its administration would face problems. The Omanhen thanked the Assembly for the gesture and said they (Assembly) had demonstrated that the chiefs could count on them in time of need.
