Kotoko Draws Congolese Club, As Aduana Takes On Libyan Side

MTN FA Cup Champions, Kumasi Asante Kotoko has been handed Congolese club Athlétique Renaissance Aiglon (CARA) in the Confederation of African Football (CAF) Confederation Cup competition.

The draw, which was held on Wednesday in Cairo, Egypt, also saw Ghana Premier League (GPL) Champions, Aduana Stars paired against Libyan side EL Tahadi in the CAF Champions League competition in the CAF Champions League competition.

Both Kotoko and Aduana would play host to their respective clubs in the Confederations Cup and CAF Champions League on 9th -11th February, 2018 respectively.

Kotoko, qualified for the competition after winning the MTN FA CUP competition and would seek to go pass CARA, nine times Congolese champions, with the Brazzaville based club qualifying to the elite competition by virtue of placing 3rd in their league.

Reacting to the draw, head of communications, Mr. Obed Acheampong, called on the club's teeming fans to brace themselves up for the campaign ahead as the club also prepares for the huge task.

"The journey just started and Kotoko could move far with the combined efforts of all stakeholders of which our supporters are key," he added.

Meanwhile GPL champions Aduana Stars are putting finishing touches to the Agyeman Badu stadium to host the Libyans as they also seek to make their presence count in the African showpiece.
