Sarkodie Repents

Isn't it fascinating that God inspires every living being not just on basis of righteousness but on the urge of encouraging every creature to understand and believe how powerful they can be. On the 26th December 2008, Michael Owusu Addo (Sarkodie) in an album prelaunch at Adom FMs Temafest outdoored the most captivating hiplife creed song Alter which was later remixed into an elections song to promote 2008 post-elections unity after tension loomed Ghana via elections. Alter, which happened to be the second track on Sarkodies Makye album which was launched in March 2009 touched more on his interactions with God and urged the world to refrain from evil deeds. The Makye album also had hit tracks like Push, Chat With You, Lay Away, Borga and Babe which are all enjoying massive airplays and hiking charts worldwide. To many, Sarkodie is a preacher on his slow songs and funky on the fast ones. Alter brought the religious side of Sarkodie as manifested by the core content of the song. It was not much of a surprise to comprehend that the album explored different genres of music namely hiphop, R&B, highlife and gospel. The post album launch success of Sarkodie has been very overwhelming. He has been a head line artist for most big shows/concerts in Ghana and played most shows in Ghana in 2009. By analysis, Sarkodie on the average plays four shows per week neglecting parties and volunteering. The Makye album has been the fastest selling and highest bought local music album in 2009 and doing surprisingly well in the UK and USA. The fast lips greasy tongue artiste has more coming on his "RAPPERHOLIC" album set to be realized in 2010 though banging singles like Balling and the recently introduced Life are both set to cause scares to his own album. Sarkodie never revisited his religious style of music until he repented recently. His new hit single entitled Life which features Ghanas Obrafuor says it all. Folks, this young man is preaching repentance again. With few weeks to end the year, the young musician has found a medium to transform people through religious music. During a recent interview, he publicly informed his fans to refrain from evil deeds and concentrate on biblically accepted acts.
