Western Rail Line Under Rehabilitation (PHOTOS)

Pictures available to Peacefmonline.com indicates a massive rehabilitation on the Western rail line up to Tarkwa.

Contractors are on site working to beat deadline after the sector minister has ensured it use by next year.

Minister for Railway Development, Joe Ghartey in an interview with Peacefmonline.com said in the first quarter of next year they will completely rehabilitate the Accra to Tema and Accra to Nsawam rail lines.

“They have started rehabilitation of their coaches and they are also repairing their locomotives. God makes all things beautiful in his time,” he added.

Government’s ongoing effort to improve the rail sector was boosted earlier this year by an agreement between mining firm, Ghana Manganese Company, and the Ghana Railway Company Limited for the repair of the dilapidated Western Rail Lines.

The $10 million deal will rehabilitate the approximately 15km Kojokrom to Tarkwa section of the Western Rail Lines and represents freight advance from Ghana Manganese Company to the Ghana Railway Company.
