Black Stars skipper, Stephen Appiah says he is unperturbed by the injury he sustained at training at his new club side Bologna and he is hopeful to make an early return to play for team and country. Speaking on Asempa FM, the Tornado as he is affectionately called said a lot though depends on his doctors. Stephen Appiah sustained a calf injury on Friday in a training match and is likely to be away from the pitch for about two weeks. He debunked assertions that he is not still fit and strong enough to return to demanding schedules after staying on the sidelines for close to two years without a team. Stephen Appiah said if he were not fit, his team wouldn�t have signed him on saying his detractors who have always prayed for his downfall will be put to shame. Answering questions on the group Ghana finds itself after the recent World Cup draw for South Africa 2010, Stephen Appiah said with the experience of Germany 2006, Ghana is surely poised to make an impact. He said the comments of the coach of the Black Stars Milovan Rajevac to the effect that Ghana was not lucky being placed in that Group D along with Germany, Serbia and Australia should not be misconstrued as he might have stated those in the heat of the moment and in his limited knowledge of the English language. The captain said Ghana cannot afford to be complacent because the other three teams are equally powerful football nations but said Ghana is likely to come tops of the group.
