What seems like a hidden disagreement between veteran Ghanaian actress Akorfa Asiedu Ejeani and Leila Djansi, the director of �I Sing Of A Well�, on which Akorfa serves as both a producer and cast member, has reached its crescendo as Leila has openly lashed out over what she described as a falling out. Leila, speaking in an exclusive with BEATWAVES on Tuesday expressed regret for using Akorfa as the lead character in the movie. Akorfa�s role, according to Leila, has negatively affected the movie because in her opinion she (Akorfa) deprived the film of �star power�. �I Sing Of A Well is an elitist movie. It is very polished. There is no screaming, there is no over the top comedy. But what it needed was a quite spark, with somebody like Naa Ashokor to the play the lead. It needs star power, and that is what it does not have. Somebody gave an analogy that if there is an option to choose between Kojo Antwi and Becca, everybody will go for Becca because she is fresh, young and new. That is what it is�, she said. She said Akorfa is not a face that commands attention at the moment. According to her, Akorfa insisted on being the lead character because she wants to compete with the likes of Nadia Buari and the Jackie Appiah. �She is not Nadia, She is Jackie, I am sure that makes sense to you. Actresses and actors have competition among themselves and that was what it is in this case�, she added. Akorfa, she disclosed, even sacked one of her technical producers who was against her decision to play the lead role. �One thing that flops a movie is casting. One of my supervising editors saw the movie and asked me why I used Akorfa. Everywhere I went I kept getting that question, and I don�t say anything, not because I don�t know what to say�, she stated. During production Leila said there were some things she needed Akorfa to do as a producer, but she could not since she was playing a dual role. �We are effective in our areas of expertise. You can�t divide yourself too much, and I remember when we were shooting one of the scenes there were goats bleating all over the place. All I needed was the producer to go and sack those goats but I didn�t have anybody�. She however refused to comment on her current relationship with Akorfa although there seems to be some bad blood between them. She would also not respond when asked if Akorfa had paid her for the job she did.
