Engineer urges managers open up to their workers

Mr Samuel Asare Koram, Engineer of UNIHYDRO Consultancy firm, has urged managers and heads of businesses to open up to subordinates and allow their views and opinions. He said such cordial working relationship would encourage the workers to intensify efforts to enhance productivity. Mr. Koram was addressing about 27 managers and board members of water supply systems at Nkoranza, Ejura and Kintampo at a capacity building workshop at Nkoranza. He deplored the negative attitude of some managers who are dictators and look down on their subordinates, saying any person with such character would find it very difficult to effectively manage a business. The engineer advised managers to create an enabling environment at their work places and arrange for incentives and better conditions of service for their workers. Madam Fati Saaka, Nkoranza South District Deputy coordinating Director, commended the consultancy firm for the workshop, which she said would certainly guide the participants in their activities. She expressed gratitude to the Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development and the German Technical Cooperation (GTZ) for initiating the water supply systems for some selected districts nation-wide under the promotion of the district capitals projects (PRODICAP) programme.
