‘Stop Using Tramadol As Sex Enhancing Drugs’

The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) for Amen Scientific Herbal and Research Centre, Dr. Amen Bonsu, has cautioned the youth against the abuse of tramadol.

Tramadol is a narcotic-like pain reliever. It is used to treat moderate to severe pain.

Studies have shown that, tramadol can slow or stop your breathing, and may be habit-forming or other person using the medicine without a prescription.

However, the abuse of the drug is getting out of hand among men especially, Dr. Amen lamented. Some individuals mix the drug with energy drinks and other alcoholic beverages or take them raw as sexual enhancers.

There have been reported cases of deaths among some young people who have abused the drug.

Early this year, Nyankonton Mu Nsem recorded over four deaths and 10 in 2017 as a result of the abuse of the drug. Commenting on the issue, Dr.Alhaji Sheikh Amen Bonsu, warned the youth to desist from abusing the drug unless it has been prescribed by a doctor.

He said the side effects are high hence the need for the youth to heed to his call.

Speaking to Nyankonton Mu Nsem’s Abdul Majid, on Rainbow Radio 87.5FM, he stressed the need for the youth to avoid using the drug as a sex enhancer.

Dr. Alhaji Sheikh Amen Bonsu who doubles as the Chairman of the Ghana Muslim Mission, said cases which are very common to his clinic across the nation are mental problems, sexual weakness and sexual transmitted diseases and he can boldly say that, some of these problems were as a result of the abuse of tramadol.
