SoNA: Prez Akufo-Addo To Be Heckled

The Minority in Parliament has indicated it will ‘definitely’ heckle President Akufo-Addo as he appears before the august house to address the nation.

Nana Akufo-Addo will today  Thursday 8th February deliver this year’s State of the Nation Address at the parliament house in Accra, in accordance with Article 67 of the 1992 Constitution.

Speaking on Adom FM, Member of Parliament (MP) for Sefwi Bodi and former Deputy Minister for Water Resources Works and Housing, Sampson Ahi, said Akufo-Addo will surely feel their heat as they have prepared to heavily heckle the latter.

According to him, the heckle will not be their main focus because the minority does so make the house ‘lovelier’ to entertain the president as he delivers his State of the Nation Address to keep him entertained.

“It’s a normal thing we do to make the president himself feels entertained as he reads because he will be standing on his feet for about 3 or 4 hours. It’s just to make the house lovely”, he said.

He revealed the main focus was to access the president to see if he had been able to deliver on promises made in his previous State of the Nation Address.

“The heckling will not be our main focus. Our main concern is to check if has been able to fulfilled promises made in last year’s address. So basically we will be looking at what he has for us”, he added.

Quizzed on what his expectations were, Sampson Ahi said he was expecting the president to touch heavily on the state of security in the country and also talk about the water rationing system by the Ghana Water Company.
