Zongo Chiefs Appeal To Be Inducted Into The National House Of Chiefs

Zongo chiefs in Ghana have appealed to the National House of Chiefs to include representatives of Zongo chiefs into the regional and national house of chiefs.

The Paramount Chief and Leader of all Zango Chiefs in Ghana, Maimartaba Sarkin Zango Sultan Alhaji Omar Farouk Saeed stated that their inclusion would help deepen harmony in the country.

‘’Zongo chiefs appeal now to the President of the National House of Chiefs,Togbe Afede XIV ,to consider together with other chiefs to include Regional Zongo Chiefs where they are not part of the traditional chiefs ,and at least two slots of Zongo representatives into the National House of Chiefs “.

He said this in Koforidua Saturday during the 5th Annual Conference of National Association of Zango Chiefs (NAZAC) on the Theme : “Education ,the bedrock of poverty alleviation in the Zango communities”.

Maimartaba Sarkin Zango Sultan Alhaji Omar Farouk Saeed also the Ashanti Regional Sarkin Zango commended President Akufo Addo for fulfilling his promise on the establishment of Inner Cities and Zongo Development Ministry , and appealed to government to include Zongo chiefs to the Board of the newly established Zongo Development Fund .
He also appealed for more political appointments from the Zongo communities.

Also in attendance was the Second Lady, Samira Bawumia and Minister of Inner Cities and Zongo Development, Alhaji Abubakar Sadique Boniface.

The 1st Speaker, Alhaji Mahamadu Dendey Maze Waje IV -Chief Zongo of Cape Coast said the Zongo communities are lagging behind due to misplaced priority, blaming the current Zongo ministry of committing the same mistake with the construction of Astroturfs in the Zongos which is not a priority area for Zongo communities.

The 2nd Speaker Sheik Abdul Moomeen Dalhu – Sarkin Zango of Tamale who gave historical antecedents of Zango communities said, Zango communities have not received its share of national development over the years despite its contribution to National Development.
