Lower West Akyem NDC elects executives

The Lower West Akyem Constituency of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has re-elected Mr Abu Zayed Teye-Addo, as its Chairman. The position of Secretary was also retained by Mr Emmanuel Adu Kwasi. Mr Teye-Addo polled 101 votes to beat Mr Ibrahim Mohammed, who had 67 votes, whilst Mr Adu Kwasi had 115 votes with Alhaji Ibrahim Lawal Mohammed polling 52 votes. The position of Vice-Chairman went to Mr Edward Kwame Boakye, who defeated Mr John Okyere Botwe by 111 votes to 57. Mr Aminu Issah was elected organizer polling 109 votes as to beat George Yamoah, who had 63 votes. Miss Helena Anku polled 47 votes to become the women's organizer beating Miss Juliana Tettey who had 18 votes, whilst the position of deputy women's organizer went to Miss Grace Gamor who beat Miss Zinabu Mohammed by 39 votes to 21. Mr E. Y. Adu- Agyei polled 126 votes to become the propaganda secretary with his competitor Mr Lukaya Adamu polling 42 votes. Mr Bismark Ayisi Afriyie was elected treasurer when he polled 113 votes to beat three others; Nana Debra Kantanka, 33 votes, Mr Iddi Amadu, 14 votes and Alhaji Abubakar, eight votes. Six persons including Mr Abubakar Alhassan, youth organizer, Mr Ali Mohammed, deputy youth organizer, Mr John Ahor, deputy propaganda secretary, Miss Fatima Haruna, deputy treasurer, Mr Philip Opare, deputy Organizer and Nana Kumi Sasraku, assistant secretary were elected unopposed. The elections were supervised by the Municipal Electoral Officer, Mr Charles Damuah. The Eastern Regional Organizer of NDC, Mr Tawiah Boateng, advised members to do away with petty squabbles and unite to retain the party in power in 2012. Mr Boateng later swore the new executive into office.
