Been To All 50 States In America...I'll Never Sacrifice Ghana For Anything - Pratt

Seasoned journalist, Kwesi Pratt has advised Ghanaians to stop comparing Ghana to other foreign countries whenever national issues, particularly with regard to the current spate of crime in the country, are broached.

Speaking on Peace FM’s "Kokrokoo", Mr. Pratt told host Kwami Sefa Kayi that the comparisons will not help to solve the security challenges in the country, but rather counseled the leaders and citizenry to appreciate the mercies of God bestowed on the country.

He was responding to arguments that countries like the United States have put stringent measures in place to curb crime rate.

Critics have wondered why the security agencies are not adopting similar measures to address armed robberies and other related criminal activities.

Supporting his argument on Kokrokoo, Kwesi Pratt disclosed that he has traveled lengthily across all the 50 States in the United States of America and has come to a conclusion that there are equally very underdeveloped poor places in the US.

He stated emphatically that he once experienced a Ghanaian national based in Philadelphia in the US living in an uncompleted building under very poor conditions, stressing that the “zongo communities in Ghana pales in comparison to the zongos in America”.

I know America a bit. There’s no State in the United States of America I haven’t been to. I’ve been to all of them over a period of 30 years…The unemployment in America is very terrible. Any person who will say there’s no unemployment situation in America is a liar. In some of the communities, you’ll find people scavenging refuse sites for food. They eat garbage food.

“…we should appreciate the little mercies we have. There are so many things in Ghana that I will never sacrifice it for anything in the world”, he said.
