A total of 45,235 beneficiaries of the NYEP are currently on the payroll of the programme which originally covers 8 modules. These include; Health Extension Workers, Agric/Business, Community Protection, Paid Internship and Vocation Job, Community Education Assistants and Volunteer Module. The Minister of Youth and Sports, Hon. Abdul- Rashid Pelpuo made this known in Parliament today following a question by Hon. O.B. Amoah, MP for Aburi Nsawam who wanted the Minister to explain the current state of the NYEP. According to the Minister beneficiaries of the NYEP receive allowances ranging between GH�60 for sanitation workers and GH�160 for graduate internship. He said, 11 new modules have been added to the programme namely; Youth in Eco-Brigade, Afforestation, Film Industry, Trade and Industry, Grasscutter Production, Phone Repairs, Bambooo Processing and Products, Dressmaking and Sachet Water Production. Hon Pelpuo said, the necessary legal foundation to the NYEP to ensure its smooth operation will be placed before Parliament soon. He said allowances in arrears will be paid to the beneficiaries of the NYEP before Christmas.
