NGO builds teachers quarters for Gyansa community

Light for Children Ghana, a non-governmental organization (NGO), has funded the construction of teachers quarters with space for six at the cost of GH�31,400.00 for the Gyansa community in the Sekyere Central District. This is to help ease the acute accommodation problem faced by teachers posted to the community that is predominantly farming. Mr Michael Owusu, the Coordinator, said the Organization is providing a KVIP toilet for the people. He was speaking during a quiz competition organized for selected schools in the district at Nsuta. Sponsored by the NGO, it was designed to keep the school children abreast of current events and to help broaden their scope of knowledge. Mr Owusu urged parents and guardians to give priority attention to the education of their children. Mr Haruna Nkansah Hussein, Deputy District Coordinating Director, suggested that the competition should in the future be extended to cover all basic schools in the area. The Nsuta Saint Peter's Catholic Junior High School (JHS) emerged the over all winner, scoring 42 points and for its prize, received a computer, mathematical sets and exercise books. Nsuta Presbyterian JHS came second with 30 points and took away a set of football jersey while third-placed Nsuta Oxford Preparatory school was presented with footballs and T-shirts.
