VIDEO....Koku Anyidoho "Arrested"!

Peacefmonline.com can confirm that Deputy General Secretary of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), Koku Anyidoho has been picked up by the officers of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of the Ghana Police Service, a couple of minutes ago.

This was after he was heard in a shocking audio which went viral last night inciting civilians to launch a coup d’etat against the Akufo-Addo government.

According to Peacefmonline sources, more than a dozen armed men in pickups and a V8 vehicle, besieged the premises of the Ghana International Press Centre in Accra at about 1:25pm to effect the arrest of the NDC capo.

Koku, it is understood, was at the Press centre together with other NDC Executives and several other opposition leaders belonging to the Progressive Forces, to hold a news conference to condemn the government for signing a security cooperation deal with the United States of America.

He was said to have refused to sit in the police pick-up and was thus escorted on foot to the CID headquarters a few metres away from the press centre.

He was accompanied by the NDC General Secretary Asiedu Nketiah and National Chairman Kofi Portuphy.

Friendly Invite

Yours truly had earlier reported of plans by the security agencies to raid the residence of Mr. Anyidoho today, Tuesday, March 26 to cause his arrest over the comments some have described as “irresponsible”, wherein he warned of a civil insurrection, stating emphatically that a “possible civilian coup” would be staged to unseat the Akufo-Addo government .

It was not known what the action will be, but it is widely speculated that it might be in the form of a "friendly invite" by the BNI for "questioning".

Background

The vociferous NDC kingpin had predicted President Nana Akufo-Addo, will be overthrown just like his father and the late K.A Busia, because of the controversial military pact deal between Ghana and the United States.

According to him, there will be series of activities to unsettle the current administration with a planned nationwide demonstration to be undertaken on Wednesday, March 28, 2018 against President Akufo-Addo and his government.

"There will be a civil revolt. There will be a civilian coup d’état. There will be a social revolution. We [NDC] are starting it on Wednesday. The movement is starting on Wednesday. Nana Addo will have headaches, sleepless nights, and severe running stomach. He will suffer severe diarrhea. He said he wants to be president, he would wish he hadn't harboured the desire…

When his attention was drawn to the graveness of his comments and asked by HappyFM's Kwame Afrifa Mensah whether he meant there will be a 'coup d’etat in Ghana', the Deputy General Secretary, who acknowledged his comments are serious, responded: “as for me I have said it [translated], history has an interesting way of repeating itself...on the 13th of January 1972, a certain Colonel Ignatius Kutu Acheampong, led a movement that removed the progress party from power. Busia was the Prime Minister; Akufo-Addo’s father was the Ceremonial President. Somebody should tell Nana Akufo-Addo that, history has an interesting way of repeating itself." Koku Anyidoho furiously stated.
