Even before the ultimatum issued by the Minority in Parliament to Communications Director at the Office of the President, Koku Anyidoho, to render an unqualified apology to the Minority Chief Whip and MP for Suhum, Hon Fred Opare Ansah, by Friday, December 18th, expires, Mr. Anyidoho has reacted to their call although not in the direction as expected by the Minority. Mr. Anyidoho says since the Minority has not officially informed him of their demands he cannot offer any apology for now. Speaking in an interview with CitiFM, he said under no circumstance and on no platform had he heard of the Minority asking him to apologise to Hon. Opare Ansah, and therefore cannot accede to their request. According to him, �this is not an issue to raise eyebrows about, as he will soon answer their call when invited.� �Nobody has informed me officially, nothing. This morning I had an interaction with Hon. Ameyaw Ekumfi. We discussed a number of issues but that did not come up. We will get back home and I don�t think Saturday is too far. Once we are back, I think we will be able to dig ourselves in full, into the issue,� he stated. The Minority on Thursday issued the ultimatum to Mr. Anyidoho asking him to apologise to the Minority Chief Chip and MP for Suhum, Hon Fred Opare Ansah, for the use of words deemed unparliamentary. Mr. Anyidoho had described the Minority, most especially the Chief Whip, in unfriendly terms, using words like �nonsensical, irresponsible, capricious and whimsical,� after the minority impressed upon the need for President Mills to come out with the names of persons alleged by Kwame Pianim, to have attempted to bribe him with �brown envelopes.� Hon Opare Ansah had opined that impeachment proceedings could be initiated against the President in line with article 69 (1) of the 1992 Constitution if it is established that, indeed President Mills merely rejected the bribe offer but failed to report the people who attempted to bribe him to the Police for prosecution. It is this position and call by the Minority Chief Whip that seemed to have incensed Mr. Koku Anyidoho, causing him to spew forth a barrage of vitriolic attacks on Hon Opare Ansah and his other colleagues on the Minority�s side Koku Anyidoho is currently with the President in Copenhagen, attending a Summit on Climate Change. He is due to return on Saturday, December 19, 2009.
