Church presents X'mas gifts to Children's ward

The Koforidua District of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana has presented food items valued at 1,500 Ghana cedis to the Children's ward of the Koforidua Regional Hospital. The items presented included bags of rice, cooking oil, assorted biscuits, soft drinks, loaves of bread, a bag of sugar, 13 cartons of soap and oranges. Presenting the items on behalf of the church on Sunday, the Chairman of the Akuapem Presbytery of the Church, Rev. Dr. Joseph O. Y. Mante, said Jesus Christ was given to mankind as a gift by God hence at Christmas, people needed to show love to others in appreciation of the divine gift offered on Christmas Day. He explained that, in the spirit of the season, the church felt obliged to show her love to the children on admission at the hospital and their mothers because many of them might not get the privilege to spend the Christmas at home. Rev. Mante said the presentation was therefore to enable the kids though on their sick bed to be part of the Christmas celebrations. The items were received on behalf of the children's ward by Mrs. Mary Afreh, Principal Nursing Officer, and she thanked the church for consistently presenting gifts to the wards for the past three years.
