Their conspicuously and tastelessly indecent ways of politicking cannot be dispensed with even after such moves contributed immensely to their humiliating defeat in the last elections.

The NDC claims to be holding the mother of all unity walks in the Garden City, Kumasi, over the weekend. Such walks have been held in different parts of the country, and one wonders if they are really repairing the disunity that has permeated the party or they are meant to pedal Mahama to the top of the list of contestants in their upcoming presidential primaries.

The Wa version of the unity walks had a spectacle that sent many a Ghanaian wondering if the NDC has learnt any useful lessons from their predicament in the last elections. While the pockets of people gathered at the grounds were listening to the same old, monotonous and uninspiring speeches, a lady was pushed onto the stage, clad in Loyal Ladies T-shirt.

When she was given the microphone, the young lady wouldn’t disappoint as she spewed the verses she had been made to rehearse. She claimed that she was a member of the Loyal Ladies but had been disappointed by the Akufo-Addo administration, hence, her decision to pitch camp with the opposition NDC.

Though that miragy drama failed to garner the anticipated smiles, the NDC is hell-bent on taking that line to the next level. Over 50 Loyal Ladies branded T-shirts have been printed by the NDC. They are to be worn by some ‘defected’ Loyal Ladies at the Kumasi unity walk. Joshua Akamba was on Nhyira FM making the claim that about 50 disgruntled and defected Loyal Ladies are on their way from Accra to Kumasi to partake in the upcoming exercise.

They are at liberty to continue deluding themselves with such a move. No Loyal Lady, it must be emphasized, has defected to the NDC as it is being claimed. One would ask what would even be the motivation to do so? There is none!

The NDC should befriend common sense for a while, and they would come to appreciate the fact that these old tricks cannot work. The so-called Loyal Ladies from Accra are members of the discredited and disgraced Doves for Mahama who have been recruited to dramatize themselves as the inspiring and hard working Loyal Ladies of the ruling NPP.

They can imitate Loyal Ladies of the NPP but they can never be the famous Loyal Ladies of the New Patriotic Party.
