Lydia Forson Kicked Out As Host Of TV 3 Mentor

After opening season 5 of the TV3 hit singing competition and receiving some public backlash, it appears that the network or producers have decided to drop actress Lydia Forson as host of the reality series. It was not clear from the beginning whether she would be the substantive host for the new season but comments left on her Facebook page suggested that she would be back the following week with an improved performance. However she didnt return to host the show this weekend and with a comment from Judge Mark Okraku Mantey that suggested that the new host, Iso Paeley has 13 weeks to host the show. Meanwhile the show continued with the first individual performances from the contestants. This season of the competition is very different from previous ones as it is opened to anyone 16 years and above. So it is interesting to find a 42 year old man competing with much younger ones. Also this season, contestants have been grouped under Ghanaian music icons that would each mentor at least 4 contestants to perform every week under a genre of music. This week the genres included highlife with Nana Ampadu as mentor, reggae with mentor Sasha Marley, and mentor Paulina Oduru for African songs among other categories. As the weeks go on, the new twists would become more explanatory as new themes are introduced and the drama of weekly evictions set in.
