Driver convicted for motor traffic offences

James Akonko, a commercial bus driver from Assin Foso who knocked down and killed a pedestrian, has been fined GH�240 by a magistrate court at Assin Foso for careless and inconsiderate driving and negligently causing harm. Akonko, who pleaded guilty, will go to prison for nine months in default. Prosecuting, the Assin Foso Divisional Commander of Police, Mr. Godact Hlordzi, told the court that on July 10 the convict who was driving a bus from Kumasi to Assin Foso knocked down one Mr. Joseph Dickson. He said the victim was rushed to the Roman Catholic Hospital at Foso but died soon on arrival.
