Kotoko to strengthen its Under-20 team

The technical handlers of the Under-20 team of Kumasi Asante Kotoko Football Club has embarked on strategies to strengthen the capability of the juvenile team to raise more quality players to feature for the senior side. The Technical Director of the team, Dogo Moro said they are of the view that Kotoko's current abysmal performance in the on-going Glo Premier League are due to the lack of quality, committed and disciplined players. Mr Moro, a former Kotoko star player who was speaking to the GNA Sports in Kumasi, said a critical look at the history of the 'Porcupine Warriors' shows that players raised from the junior side tend to be more committed and dedicated to the cause of the Club. He said the products have better understanding of the philosophy and culture of the Kotoko tradition than those recruited from other clubs. Coach Moro cited the likes of Joe Debrah, Isaac Kwakye and goalkeeper Anthony Osei Kwadwoas those who have contributed immensely to the success story of Kotoko in the early 90s. He appealed to corporate bodies and stakeholders of the Club to be more supportive of development programmes meant to inject vibrancy in the Under-20 team. The Technical Director also urged he supporters to exercise restraint and rally solidly behind the Club even when the team is going through some difficulties. Coach Moro said he is hopeful that Kotoko would come out of the current situation a strong side better placed to take its rightful place on the League table. "All that is needed is for all to remain committed to the Club's cause and avoid the pursuit of selfish interest, he added.
