UCC awards retired and long service staff

The Vice Chancellor of the University of Cape Coast (UCC) Prof Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang on Wednesday announced that from next year the University would organize lectures for its staff that are due for retirement to enable them manage the retirement process. She said the UCC was in consultations with the Ghana Employers Association and the Human Resource Division of the UCC to ensure that staffs who will attain age 56 and above would be encouraged to attend such lectures. Prof Naana Opoku-Agyemang said this at a send-off and long service awards ceremony for staff of the UCC at Cape Coast. In all, 42 staffs made up of 15 junior staff, 16 senior staff and 11 senior members who had worked with the UCC between 15 and 40 years were presented with items including double door fridges and Deep Freezers as well as a set of living room furniture. She thanked them for their meritorious services and stressed that it was as a result of their commitment and dedication to duty that has brought the UCC this far. Prof. Kobina Yankson, a former Pro Vice Chancellor, thanked the UCC for the opportunity given them by the University to serve their country and called on those still in active service to take their work seriously.
