No-Bed Syndrome: We Are A Failure – Kweku Baako

Some hospitals in the Ghana have been affected with the ‘no bed syndrome’

The syndrome has led to a number of needless deaths with the recent being a 70-year-old who died in his car after being turned away from seven public health facilities over lack of beds.

Many have condemned the situation with some wondering why a 61 year old country like Ghana should be facing such a challenge.

Speaking to this issue during Joy FM’s newsfile programme, Saturday, the managing Editor of the New Crusading Guide newspaper, Kweku Baako said: “this country after many years of independence has not done well for itself relative to our health delivery system; 37 years down the line…here we are; back here still examining the same problem; we are a failure; abject failure…it is pathetic”

Meanwhile, the Ghana Medical Association (GMA) has called on government to increase funding for the health sector and emergency services in particular as part of measures to solve the no bed syndrome
