Ghanaian Rapper Releases Mix Tape in US

Ghanaian rapper, Ronny O has made his latest mixtape, Almost Broken (hosted by American Yard and Blewz of Konvict) available for download. The 22-track mixtape is a mixture of personal and motivational joints and as the title may suggest, it represents a time in the artists life when he was almost torn apart by a relationship gone bad. Ronny O describes it as a collection of hits and heart warming tracks that reflects his life. I basically was preparing a demo for an A&R and around the same time I was being flown back to Ghana from Canada and a girl I had fallen in love with for the first time, did me wrong. So its mixed feelings on this. You can listen and understand I was going through a situation at that time on most the songs. He also underscores the need for West Africa to embrace the new movement of hip hop going to sweep the continent in the coming year. If all goes well, 2010 is going to be a start for a lot of us hip-hop artist in Ghana, he believes, adding that he hopes his mix tape would help pave the way. Almost Broken features El on London Shit, Rock City and American Yard on the intro. So far the mixtape is doing extremely well and it was nominated for Mixtape of the Year on Power20. Ronny O discovered his desire to rap at the tender age of 14 and started his own group, Platinum Bling at the Neil McNeil High School. Born in the heart of the Bronx and later relocating to Toronto due to his parents separating, Ronny O was able to acquire and make sense of the hip-hop culture surrounding him, and has over the years been able to hone his rapping skills into a unique talent that reflects his life experiences. He has appeared on over 25 mixtapes and he has written for several R&B singers.
