Meet The New Gospel Sensation, Lady Ophelia

Lovers of inspirational gospel music who listen to songs composed by Lady Ophelia will have something to be enthused about.

Since the emergence of the multi-talented gospel musician who is making tremendous inroads, warming into the hearts of music enthusiasts with the release of her maiden gospel album, titled: “Kronkron Hene,” testimonies have been abounding.

Lady Ophelia, who is fast becoming the toast of gospel music adherents, is an artiste who possesses amazing and silky voice.

She has ministered at various churches and many other places across the country and her debut album has been a blessing to many who keep sharing their testimonies.

The new singer, who is well versed in her craft, established a deep music talent at a very tender age in her primary school days wielding strong song writing and composing skills that she mostly got from meditation, dreams and sermons preached at churches.

The music diva who is a very good performer in live band music has about thirty songs to her credit out of which seven have been recorded for her first album.

Born Ophelia Dedea, a native of Kwahu in the Eastern Region of Ghana, the gospel songstress attended St. Luke’s Anglican Basic School at Kwashieman in Accra and proceeded to Abuakwa State College, where she offered Business Secretariat due to her desire to become an air hostess.

The affable, friendly singer, who has a smiling face trademark, is a product of Kibi Teachers’ Training College and currently a teacher at the Odorgonno Model Basic School at Awoshie in Accra,

Testimonies of respite and hopefulness have accompanied her whenever and wherever she had ministered. A taxi driver who picked the gospel diva from Kaneshie to Haatso in Accra tells a testimony. Lady Ophelia gifted him a copy of the Kronkron Hene CD after he had bemoaned to her the spate at which people had been ingrate towards him.

After listening to the songs on the track, the taxi driver called her via phone to testify how great the songs on the album had been upon his life.

It was thus, not surprising that gospel music lovers who responded to invitation to the launch of her maiden album on Sunday, March 11, 2018 felt spiritually filled and entertained to the variety of the inspirational music of the new gospel artiste.

Satisfactorily, the West Hill Worship Centre of the Church of Pentecost, the venue for the event, was jammed with guests from all over the metropolis. The event, which was billed to start at 3:00 p.m., and end at 6:00 p.m., had guests seated by 2:00 p.m., until 7:00 pm. Despite the extended duration, host artiste, Lady Ophelia, captured the admiration of the audience who cried for encore of the new songs that she performed from her album.

Philippa Baafi, Alfred Nyanney and Apostle Oko Hackman were popular artistes who featured at the launch and raised funds for the Lady Ophelia Ministry. An overwhelmed Peace FM’s popular presenter, Odiahenkan Kwame Yeboah, the MC for the launch, predicted a rosy and promising career for the new artiste.

By God’s design, Lady Ophelia met Mr Lawrence Darmani, after she had performed at the Kaneshie Presbyterian Church on a particular day. Mr Darmani had admired her singing prowess and thus decided to help her produce her first album that has the following tracks: Aye yie awie, Ma m’ayeyie nye wo fe, Kronkron Hene (the album title), Oye adee yie, Ne mogya no, Nyansaboakwa Nyame, Monyi Nyame Din aye

She wrote all the songs with the back vocalist being Ruth Adjei. The songs were programmed, engineered and mixed by Shadrack Yawson of Shaa Studios at Kwashieman, He also played the guitar and the keyboard.

Lady Ophelia believes that gospel music is a ministry but not a competition. Her desire is to minister through music and very much inspired to sing to praise and honour God who has been good to her and bringing her out of the many challenges she faced. She also sings to give hope and encouragement to people who are distressed over life’s setbacks.

Her wish is to see her music set people’s heart at peace and help them grow spiritually and do music that will be accepted to people worldwide

Her family, particularly, her mother and twin sisters, have been encouraging and helpful towards her musical career, recounting how as a child she was her mother bought her books that contained lyrics of songs.

She is appreciative to God for His goodness and kindness, her Producer, Mr Lawrence Darmani, whom God used to make the album a reality, her mom, Rev Margaret Ofori, and her twin sisters, radio stations and her music lovers.
